SMS
SMS messages stay under 160 characters. Janine leads with the customer’s name and mentions one item from the cart to make it personal.
Freway appends a unique checkout link to the end of every SMS automatically. You don’t need to include one in your configuration.
Similar to SMS but a bit warmer. WhatsApp messages can run slightly longer and support light emoji use.

Voice
Voice calls are reserved for high-value carts on Enterprise plans. Below is a transcript of what a typical call sounds like.
Janine: Hi Alex, this is Janine from Ridgeline Outdoor Co. I’m calling because you had a couple of items in your cart — the Trail Runner Pro boots and a Lightweight Rain Shell. I wanted to check in and see if there was anything I could help with.
Alex: Oh hey, yeah. I was going to buy those but I wasn’t sure how long shipping would take. I need the boots for a trip next weekend.
Janine: Totally fair. We ship from our warehouse in Denver, and standard ground shipping usually lands in three to five business days. If your trip is next weekend, you’d be cutting it close with standard. We do have an expedited option that gets it to you in two business days — I can check the exact cost for your zip code if you want.
Alex: Yeah, let’s do that. If it’s reasonable I’ll just finish the order.
Janine: Let me pull that up for you right now.
Storefront chat
The chat widget sits on your storefront and lets customers talk to Janine while they browse. Janine can search your catalog, answer questions from your knowledge base, and add products to the customer’s cart mid-conversation.
When Janine finds products, they render as interactive product cards with images, prices, and an “Add to cart” button. The cards are automatic — you don’t configure them.
Alex: Do you have any waterproof hiking boots?
Janine: Let me check what we’ve got.
Janine searches the catalog. Two product cards appear: Trail Runner Pro (189).
